Advice for women in their 20s Don’t self-reject. Apply for the job even when you feel like you don’t deserve it. I applied for my current role at Google before I felt ready and got the job. Don’t think your LinkedIn post is good enough. Publish it anyways. Some of my first few LinkedIn posts got 3 likes. However, building my personal brand by consistently posting useful content on LinkedIn has helped me grow and nurture my professional network. Don’t think they will reply to your LinkedIn DM ? Send it anyways. Meghan Q. Weaver, SHRM-CP referred me for my junior year internship at EY and it started with a LinkedIn DM Mackenzie Thomas referred me for my current role at Google and it started with a LinkedIn DM I am blessed to have amazing mentors and business advisors such as Shelley Zalis , Natalie Guzman , and Emily Friga. All of these relationships started with a LinkedIn DM. Some of your most meaningful relationships and life changing opportunities are the result of not being afraid to fail or get rejected. Don’t be afraid to shoot your shot. Reach out to the person you admire and apply for the job opportunity that scares you.
