About us
The professionals at The Counseling Center of Maryland use a variety of techniques to help improve the quality of life for individuals, couples, groups, and families. Through our strength-based and collaborative approach, we offer new insights that enable our clients to see things from different perspectives. We provide treatment and counseling for anxiety, depression, grief, emotional regulation issues, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and parenting. Through active and evidenced-based strategies we help empower our clients to make new choices and evoke positive change. Together, we will look at feelings, thoughts and behaviors as vehicles to positive change using techniques from empirically proven interventions including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cyclical psychodynamics, intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness.

Unlock healing from trauma with EMDR therapy – now available in Maryland, DC, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Florida at Counseling Center Group. EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process distressing memories and experiences. By stimulating the brain's natural healing mechanisms through bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements, tapping, or sounds, EMDR facilitates the reprocessing of traumatic events, leading to relief and emotional resolution. Call 888-604-6776 for more information and a free consultation with any of our EMDR trained therapists. #EMDR #therapy #mentalhealth

"During normal life events, the brain’s memory network stores memories smoothly. When a traumatic event happens, unprocessed memories get stored in the brain in an unhelpful manner. Therefore, when an experience occurs in the present (e.g., emotional triggers) that reminds someone of a past disturbing or traumatic event, the brain reacts as if the event is happening right now.” #EMDR #trauma #therapy #mentalhealth

"It can be helpful to depersonalize anxiety. Try reminding yourself, “Yes, I’m anxious but that’s a temporary thing which I can do something about, and I’m actually pretty courageous to be able to deal with it.” #mentalhealth #anxiety #anxious
