Chil Kong, Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre MTC says of the production, “We are opening this production up to the community to participate and to see their contribution warm the hearts of Washington, DC families this holiday season in this vibrant retelling of this classic book. Duncan and Flynn have illustrated beautifully that special kind of magic that occurs between a child and his or her favorite toy in the show.” Jenna Duncan, Director of The Velveteen Rabbit, says, “I find it surprising how truly great this story is for families. It’s a story that spans generations. When we read the play at Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage, the children were completely engrossed and the parents were in tears because they remember that love they felt for their own toys.” When the Child gets the Rabbit for Christmas, she is at first disappointed in her gift. But as the two quest and adventure through her storybooks, both Rabbit and Child grow and care for each other. And they discover that love is the greatest force in the Universe and can make impossible things Real. Leon Seemann, Executive Director, says of the production, “We were lucky to have Chil contribute to the development of this script during the transition.
