This hotel is okay. The staff was helpful. The new renovations make the hotel look more modern, which is a good investment. Cleanliness of the rooms and hotel 7/10.
1) When I checked in, I told them my mother-in-law made the reservation and paid for the room. Upon the actual check-in they requested a credit card, which is totally normal and expected in case of service charges to the room. But I asked to double check that I wouldn't be charged for the room (since my mother in law paid for it), the person who helped me seemed convinced that I would indeed be charged for the room. Not the best at communicating.
2) I've traveled quite a bit, but never have a been to an establishment where I've gotten a hive-like rash. I don't know if it was a reaction to the detergent for the sheets or something else in the room, but it was disturbing. (As soon as I left the hotel and started staying with my friend in D.C., the rash went away. And no, I didn't change anything about my diet, I don't have food allergies, nor did I wear anything new.) I should have taken pictures, but the small red bumps covering my arms and thighs were really ugly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathryn S.Smyrna, GA273291628Jul 28, 2017
Great Location. Average Hotel.
I liked my room. It was clean, quiet and had a nice TV. I asked for a room away from the construction. I was in Bethesda for a conference so I don't know if it was noisy during the day. The lighting in the room was poor. Why do hotels do this?
The hotel lobby is sad. I think it has to be the dullest emptiest hotel lobby I have every seen. The people at the front desk were friendly and some were even helpful.
The Metro station under the Hotel was really convenient when I wanted to explore DC.
The Grill restaurant had good food but slow, lackluster service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 1, 2016
This hotel is just terrible. Seriously, horrible. I could not figure out how to park or even enter the hotel last night when my super delayed flight got me here in the middle of the night. Not a single bit of food available - no room service past 11, no snack bar downstairs or in the room. I mean come on! I'm dying here! My room smells so heavily of carpet cleaner that I could suffocate just sitting here w no air circulation. Also there is a nice disgusting stain on my bedding. Decor is dated and old. As others mention, wanna sleep late? Too bad! The banging and hammering began at about 8am and continues all morning. I'm exhausted from my travels, but who cares about me, the guest, am I right? I will NEVER stay here again. Ever. I travel all the time for work and this place is the worst!

I'm usually pretty generous about hotels, so I'm going to be very specific about what I didn't like about this hotel:
1. Staff at the front desk were very slow about handling any kind of interaction and didn't seem to be trained well.
2. Full size beds were small. I sleep in a full bed normally (and very comfortably, I might add) so I know exactly how big a full bed should be. These beds seemed at least 6" smaller.
3. No breakfast or coffee provided (except a coffeemaker in the room), and if you purchase cereal and coffee from the restaurant downstairs and charge it to the room they automatically add an 18% gratuity. I get that if you're ordering room service, but for picking up a container of cold cereal, it's a huge rip off.
Also, it's clear that the rooms were designed before the ubiquity of cell phones because the outlets are all in weird places. There was a mini fridge in the room, but it didn't have any shelves (?). Neither of these things are dealbreakers, but suffice it to say that you won't be thrilled by the attention to detail in the room design here. That being said, I didn't experience any of the hygiene issues that others have mentioned.
Currently the lobby and pool are being renovated, so it was a huge production to get from the parking garage to the room. However, since the prices reflected the construction, I'm not factoring that into the rating.
I will say that the location is great, right on Wisconsin Ave and next to a red line metro stop. You might as well be in DC, especially if you're here for sightseeing and not business.
I would consider coming back after the renovation, but I'd definitely explore other similarly priced options in the DC area as well.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We had an awesome meeting today at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda today at 1 Bethesda Metro Center just right above the Metro strop.
Granted this hotel is under a Rooms and Lobby renovation now (and it is sure going to be amazing when done) we still had a peaceful, productive, and tucked away meeting in the Regency Ballroom on the lower level of the meeting space (far away from the major construction).
Our service today was outstanding! Thank you so much to the incredible Banquet team at Hyatt Regency Bethesda like Mr. Jude, Mrs. Lebse, and Mr. Tuan. You all were so incredibly friendly, so quick to requests, and so regularly checked in to make sure all our guests were happy. You were all really outstanding hospitality professionals!
Thank You again Hyatt Regency Bethesda for an outstanding meeting today! I cannot wait (nor even imagine) how much more incredible you'll be after the major renovation and 2016 face lift!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Figured a Hyatt right next to the capitol would be a nice comfortable place; we were severely wrong.
Can't knock the construction. It is what it is and not really a noise issue at all.
First the parking. What an effin nightmare. The deck is confusing and overly complicated. The elevator is held together by hopes and dreams. Finally, there for 3 days and the parking bill was $62 effin dollars. What a rip off!!!!!! Street metered parking would have been cheaper..
The room was ok. AC a little weird. Wife thought the mattress was hard but not an issue for me. Only thing was we ordered a king room but got two queens. Whatever.....
No store in hotel and none in the area. Hotel elevators were under repair so that sucked!!! Ordered sliders from Morton Grill in the Hyatt. Sliders was an ok burger just cut in 4 pieces. What a mess.
What annoyed me were the ice machines. I sprained my ankle and needed to ice it down. I had to hobble up down the hallways and the elevators to find an ice machine that worked. Not effin fun at all.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Louis F.Brooklyn, NY0642Feb 19, 2018
Bring your nickels and dimes, because they will ask for them.
Parking is $22 a day (unless you don't move the car, then it's only $12). You can also get the "breakfast package", which includes breakfast , internet , and some other unmemorable "amenity" for *just* $36 a day! I'm sure there are others ways for guests to spend their money that I didn't ask about.
Other than that, the hotel is basic. It is clean and mostly comfortable but the amenities are seriously lacking. The fitness center is a few treadmills and some machines but not much else. No pool, no hot tub. You have to walk outside to get to the parking garage.
All in all, not impressed. Better off spending a little more up front to get a nicer accommodations without feeling like you're at the Spirit Airlines of hotels.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kate N.Vacaville, CA1218368Jun 20, 2017
The parking is a rip off, my car wasn't even there that long and ended up covered in dust and dirt. For $12 for parking or really any charged parking, your car shouldn't be returned dirtier than when you parked it supposedly in a secure and clean space.

I have similar feedback as others. Great location, friendly staff, but small run down rooms that do not belong in the Hyatt brand. Also no amenities such as complimentary coffee in the lobby, etc.
My wife and I only stayed there for one night, so we did not stay long. But as examples the air conditioner/heater only worked in fan mode meaning it moves the air in the room but isn't adding any heat or AC. Also, and I will try to upload a picture, but there was a huge water damage induced seam tear in the wall paper under the fire sprinkler. The wall was clearly water damaged at some point and they did not even bother to fix it. They just wall papered over it. If you pressed on that area of the wall it was like pressing on sponge cake. They did not repair the wall board.
We went here expecting an elegant room based on the Hyatt brand and were very disappointed. You will be too if you are expecting a Hyatt quality stay.
Hyatt, if you are reading this go fix that wall in room 710, it is disgraceful.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ryan C.Martinez, CA4161285638Jan 31, 2017
With all of the construction that this place has had recently it gets a really bad wrap. The internal renovation seems to have stopped, at least from what I have seen during this stay. The outside and the parking garage on the other hand has visible construction. I did hear street construction noise early in the morning, but I do not believe that was related to the hotel.
There is no business center here. I am not sure if it is under construction or if it just does not exist. However, when I asked at the front desk they were more than happy to help me print out 2 pages that I needed for a presentation.
There is no convenience store located in the hotel to grab a beverage or a snack. Again, I do not know if this is short or long term. There is a 7-11 a 1/4 mile away. There is a Morton's Steakhouse bar, which is crazy expensive and I mean CRAZY. There is also the City Grill which has a bar, but neither of these are easy to grab and go.
As for the room, they have the newest and best TV that I have ever had in a hotel. I appreciate the quality of the Samsung and picture. It has to be a 42 inch tv with plenty of channels.
The Stay Fit gym has the latest equipment and several cardio machines to ensure you are not waiting.
Plenty of people have complained about the parking. I have not needed in an out privilages, so it is just $12/day. There are plenty of spaces. There might be some dust on the cars that have been down there for a long time, but nothing that was noticed on the rental car after 24 hours.
Overall, the price is comparable to everyone else in the area. It is close to many local restaurants and central for many of the customer visits that I had in the area. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here, especially if I could get a rate that was lower than other local hotels.
What did I learn today? Take your water bottle down to the Stay Fit gym on the second flood and fill it up. No cost and it is good water.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
