Cornerstone Montgomery is recruiting for the Board of Directors for our organization. They are a non profit behavioral health organization in Montgomery County that provides hope and services to about 3000 County residents each year. They are a $26 million dollar organization with 350 staff and will be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. Being a board member for a non profit organization can be an amazing and rewarding experience. Cornerstone Montgomery has a collaborative and active Board now, seeking new members with expertise in business development/entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, or education. Our History Born from the 2012 merger of two prominent providers of mental health services and support--St. Luke’s House, founded in 1971, and Threshold Services, founded in 1981, Cornerstone Montgomery is now the largest and most comprehensive mental health service providing organization in Montgomery County. We are an independent, nonsectarian, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization Who We Are Serves almost 3000 adults and transition age youth who are living with severe mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. A $26 million dollar organization with approximately 350 employees. Manages over 80 properties; owning over 60 of them, including 3 commercial buildings. Board Member Profile Our board members provide both guidance for the organization in its current projects and strategic vision to lead us into the future. The board works in partnership with our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure excellence and strong infrastructure development, program evaluation, consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising and communications, and recommends timelines and resources needed to achieve the organization’s strategic goals. Key Board Member Attributes Skills in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, Consumer of behavioral health services, Business Development/Entrepreneurship, Education, or Fundraising. A passion or interest regarding mental health and substance abuse issues. Regular attendance at quarterly Board Meetings (4 meetings per year in February, May, August, and November) and participation on at least one board subcommittee. Ability to serve a three-year board term, with the possibility of a second, subject to re-election. Giving back to the organization in at least 1 of 4 ways – financial, in kind, volunteering time at activities or events, and/or connecting us to other potential supporters.
